VenaSeal Closure System

Suffering from a vein disorder can be painful and embarrassing. Conditions like varicose veins and venous reflux disease can cause extreme discomfort, swelling, and redness. If you are looking for relief to minimize pain and restore normal appearance, the VenaSeal closure system may be the right choice for you.

When you are seeking a way to address pain from venous reflux disease, Southern Vein and Laser Center is here to help. As greater Atlanta and Valdosta’s premier resource for vein treatments, we can offer you the curative relief you deserve.

What Is VenaSeal?

A safe, effective, and efficient procedure, VenaSeal addresses venous reflux disease, one of the underlying causes of varicose veins. A non-thermal, non-tumescent, non-sclerosant procedure, VenaSeal is the only treatment of its kind approved for patient use in the U.S. by the FDA. Using a unique adhesive method to close diseased veins, VenaSeal targets individual veins for immediate symptom relief. It also reduces the risk of nerve damage when treating the small saphenous vein.

Southern Vein and Laser Center is among the only licensed facilities for VenaSeal in Valdosta and the greater Atlanta metro area using this innovative procedure to treat those with moderate to severe vein disorders.

How VenaSeal Works

VenaSeal delivers medical adhesive through a catheter inserted directly into the veins. This addresses diseased veins at the source. Tumescent anesthesia isn’t required, which offers patients the benefit of fewer needle sticks.

First, diseased veins are mapped with an ultrasound. The doctor inserts a small catheter with a dispensing gun into the target area through a small incision in the skin of the leg. Ultrasound provides imagery to help guide the catheter in the right direction. The doctor dispenses medical adhesive into the vein after reaching the proper position. After the procedure, the catheter is removed and the incision is bandaged. The process usually takes less than an hour.

During VenaSeal

The VenaSeal procedure eliminates pain and side effects while treating diseased veins. Your doctor will discuss all necessary concerns and precautions with you before the procedure.

Topical anesthetic numbs the area before the procedure. You may feel tugging or pulling sensations during catheter insertion. You shouldn’t feel any pain. Once properly positioned, the dispensing gun within the catheter dispenses medical adhesive to close the vein. Patients shouldn’t feel any associated sensation during this part of the procedure. Additional tugging or pressure may be noticeable during the removal of the catheter, but this will be brief.

After VenaSeal, patients are free to return to normal daily activities. You may experience minimal swelling or bruising.
